The Moloch Chalet
Elevation 2205 m. / 7234 ft, built in 1988
The Mt.Moloch Chalet is one of the two deluxe high alpine "satellite" chalets, which we use for the three chalet Hut to hut to hut trekking/easy mountaineering programs and for all technical mountaineering programs.
This "little house on the glacier" is located in the high alpine of the Mt. Moloch area. The location of the Mt. Moloch Chalet is truly the most incredible location for a high alpine chalet: on top of an exposed rock outcropping in the centre of a wild amphitheatre of huge glacial ice falls, high granite faces and knife edge granite ridges reaching high into the endless sky.
In the summer the Mt. Moloch Chalet is the "base-camp" for superb mountaineering, ice climbing and alpine rock climbing on beautiful granite. A total of 259 alpine routes ranging from easy glacier walks to the summit of several great alpine peaks or long scrambles up elegant alpine ridges; to extremely hard free climbs such as Viva La Vita, Hot Attraction or the Northern Shield. Climbing routes from single pitch cragging to the 54 pitch Innominata Ridge or the exposed and challenging ascent of Mt. Moloch.
Location: At the centre of the Dismal Glacier - Concordia Ice Fall amphitheatre, 3 km up-glacier and east from the Downie Creek headwater.
Access: By helicopter from Revelstoke and the Durrand Glacier Chalet
